iPhone email setup

OLD INSTRUCTIONS

Steps to add an IMAP email account on older iOS devices.

To Set up Email on Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch
(Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Accounts and choose Add Account)
Go to Settings.

On the Settings screen, tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars

 

Tap Add Account

Tap Other

Tap Add Mail Account

Enter your Name, email Address, Password, and a short Description for your email (i.e. “David’s email 1”). Tap Next

Tap IMAP

Under Incoming Mail Server

Name:        “Your Name”
Username:     “Your email address” (i.e. david@castlewood.com)
Password:     “Your email account password”

Incoming Server:
Host Name:    “We will give you this” (i.e. network.sitehosted.com)
User Name:    “Your email address” (i.e. david@castlewood.com)
Password:    (should already be filled out if not re-enter email password)

Outgoing Server:     “We will give you this” (i.e. network.sitehosted.com)
User Name:    “Your email address” (i.e. david@castlewood.com)
Password:    “Your email account password”
Click Next (Verifying) If a window pops up saying “Cannot Verify Server Identity”

Choose “Continue” (Verifying) If a window pops up again saying “Cannot Verify Server Identity”

Choose “Continue

Make sure mail and notes are both turned on.
tap Save
tap Done

Open the account you just created Settings / Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Click on the IMAP account
Scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server and click on the SMTP account
Click on the Primary Servery account
Make sure Server and Use SSL are both on (green)
Click on Server Port and change to 465
Click on Authentication  Password> and check password.  Tap Go Back
Tap Done

Phone should say “Verifying”

SMTP should come up at the top of the screen

Click on Accounts/Advanced to go back

Go to Incoming Setting

Change Server Port to 993 if need

Click on Authentication  Password> and check password.  Tap Go Back

Make sure Use SSL is on (green)

Upon successful completion you will be taken back to the Mail Settings screen. You will still need to configure your folders since you are using IMAP. Select your newly created account and enter the Advanced section:
IMAP path Prefix / inbox

Now you will be able to choose the Drafts, Sent, and Deleted folders on the server. This way your folders will be in sync no matter where or how you access your email. Just choose each Mailbox on the same Advanced screen and select the matching folder on the server:
Go back and click Done

On your iPhone or iPad go to Mail and choose the mail account you want to access.
